DFM checklist

Thirty questions to answer before the drawing is frozen — organised around the eight production steps this plant runs, so every line maps to a process that can accept or reject it. Print it, use it internally, or send it with the RFQ.

How to use it

Answer what you can, flag what you cannot

An unchecked line is not a problem — it is exactly the information worth discussing. The review answers go back as marked-up comments on the drawing.

01

The part itself

02

The joint it goes into

03

Material and condition

04

Finish and coating

05

Quality and documentation

06

The line it feeds

Questions

Checklist questions

What do you actually need to start a review?
A PDF drawing plus, where available, a 3D model — with the mating material and the annual volume. A photograph of the installed position is often worth more than a third decimal place on the length dimension.
Why does the checklist ask about the line?
Because a screw that is correct on the drawing can still be wrong for the feeder: a drive that survives hand assembly can cam out at production speed, and a packaging format that protects the part can starve the bowl. The line is part of the specification.
Can you fill this checklist for us?
That is the design consultation service. Send the drawing and the joint conditions, and the review comes back with the material, finish and process route proposed — with the reasoning written down so your team can challenge it.

Send the checklist with the drawing

A reviewed drawing comes back as a manufacturable part number; an unreviewed one comes back as questions. One of those loops is shorter.
