What to ask for
Matching documentation to the programme
Not every programme needs a full PPAP. Asking for the right level avoids weeks of paperwork that nobody reads — and asking for too little creates a problem at audit.

Prototype or engineering build
Dimensional report and material certificate. Enough to confirm the part matches the drawing and the material is what was specified.

Consumer electronics production
FAI, material certificate, RoHS / REACH, coating thickness and salt spray data, plus the inspection report per lot.

Automotive programme
PPAP at the level specified by the customer, control plan, PFMEA, MSA, hydrogen relief record and full lot traceability.

Medical or analytical device
EN 10204 3.1 certificate, passivation record, cleanliness data, and outgassing or permeability reports where the application requires them.
