Self-Clinching Stud
The Self-Clinching Stud provides an external thread on thin sheet metal structures. Its design combines two features: a clinching ring that bites into the panel, and a displacement groove into which the panel material flows when the stud is pressed home.
That flow is what anchors the part. The sheet itself becomes the locking element, so the stud resists push-out and torque-out without welding, riveting or additional hardware, and it stays secure in equipment that vibrates. High-precision threads then accept standard nuts and threaded components.
The stud installs flush with the panel, keeping the surface flat and the assembly thin. Cold-heading from high-hardness carbon steel or stainless steel gives the part the strength and dimensional accuracy needed for a press-fit fastener that must last the life of the product.
Extensively used in sheet metal fabrication such as server cabinets, communication base station frameworks and power distribution cabinets, these studs are also integrated into new-energy vehicle on-board charger assemblies and other OEM equipment.
They suit any thin-plate structure that requires a stable external thread produced quickly and permanently.
