Knurled Panel Clinch Thumb Screw
The Knurled Panel Clinch Thumb Screw creates a permanent threaded stud on a panel. Its knurled shank is pressed into a prepared hole in sheet metal between 0.5mm and 2.0mm thick, and the displaced material locks the stud in place with a form-fit that cannot rotate or pull out during normal use.
Because the stud stays fixed to the panel, the fastener behaves as a captive component. Covers, doors and access panels can be opened and closed by hand; nothing has to be held in position, and no loose hardware can fall into the equipment — a practical safety benefit on electrical and electronic enclosures.
The head is shaped with an ergonomic knurl for fingertip grip, so adequate tightening torque is easy to apply without tools. Torque behaviour has been validated against ISO 14555 test methods, and the flush installation keeps the panel surface flat so gaskets, labels and adjacent components are undisturbed.
Used on server rack front panels for tool-less access to expansion slots and cooling modules, on outdoor telecom housings requiring quick rainproof maintenance, and on industrial control enclosures that must be opened without tools.
Medical equipment bezels, instrument covers and kiosk panels also use it where frequent, sterile, tool-free access is a practical requirement.
