Large Washer Bonding Studs
The Large Washer Bonding Stud is the load-spreading member of the bonding fastener family. Its base is an oversized washer flange, which increases the bonded area and therefore the total force the joint can carry. Because stress is distributed over a wide footprint instead of concentrated at a point, thin and brittle substrates are far less likely to crack or delaminate under load.
The bottom surface of the base is finely treated to promote adhesion, so the adhesive wets the metal and forms a molecular-level bond rather than sitting on top of it. Combined with the large contact area, this gives the stud high pull-out and shear strength while keeping the installed height low and the appearance clean.
Nothing is drilled, riveted or welded, which is essential on glass, carbon fiber and other high-strength composites where a hole would create a stress concentration or compromise a sealed surface.
