Product Description

The floating nut sits in a carrier that allows limited lateral movement after soldering. When the mating cover holes do not line up exactly with the nut positions — a certainty across production tolerances — the nut shifts to meet the screw instead of forcing the screw to find the thread.

This protects the nut thread from cross-threading damage, removes the need for manual "thread-finding" stations, and makes fully automated cover assembly feasible. The nut is supplied for standard SMT placement and reflow profiles, in tape-and-reel packaging, with tin-plated solder tails engineered for reliable wetting.
