Type 71 Flush Knurled Sealing Rivet Nut
Type 71 is a sealed rivet nut designed for thin panels that must remain watertight. The body is knurled, and during blind riveting that knurled collar is compressed against the walls of the mounting hole. Compression closes the gap between nut and panel, while the knurl grips the sheet and stops the nut from rotating once set.
The head is flat, so the installed fastener finishes flush with the panel. Surface flatness is held to ≤0.05mm (per ISO 10721), which matters wherever a gasket or a mating plate must sit evenly on the surface: a proud head lifts the seal, and a lifted seal becomes a leak path.
Sealing performance is rated IP67, covering both water and dust ingress, and the joint is also resistant to vibration-induced loosening. Together these properties address the conditions that defeat ordinary rivet nuts — thermal cycling, pressure washdown and continuous vibration.
Used where sealing integrity is an operational requirement, Type 71 serves outdoor telecom infrastructure such as 5G macro cells and fibre cabinets exposed to rain and salt spray, automotive electronics including sensor housings and battery enclosures, and industrial control panels that must survive washdown.
Medical equipment and other enclosures requiring repeated cleaning also benefit from a flush, sealed and stable threaded connection.
