Type FT-9 Flush Pull-through Rivet

Type FT-9 Flush Pull-through Rivet

The Type FT-9 Flush Pull-through Rivet features a true zero-protrusion head (≤0.05mm surface deviation) that self-aligns during pull riveting to achieve flush mounting in 0.8–3.0mm sheet metal. Validated to 300% higher shear strength than standard countersunk rivets, it installs in 4.2 seconds with no secondary grinding.

Product Specifications

Product Description

Type FT-9 is a blind rivet engineered for assemblies that must finish perfectly flat on both sides of the panel. During setting, the head self-aligns with the hole and pulls down to a true zero-protrusion fit, holding surface deviation to ≤0.05mm. The result is a flush joint on 0.8–3.0mm sheet metal that looks machined, not riveted.

Flushness is not cosmetic here. A protruding head interrupts the shielding continuity of an enclosure and creates an EMI leakage path in RF-sensitive assemblies; it also lifts gaskets, which destroys ingress protection — even 0.1mm of protrusion is enough to disrupt gasket sealing (IEC 60529 Clause 14.2) and put an IP54 panel at risk. Because the FT-9 sets truly flush, both shielding continuity and gasket compression are preserved.

Mechanically, the rivet is validated to deliver 300% higher shear strength than standard countersunk rivets (per ASTM F606). Installation is tool-free and takes about 4.2 seconds, compared with roughly 8.7 seconds for a threaded fastener, and the flush finish means no grinding, deburring or rework afterwards — faster assembly and a cleaner, more consistent joint.

Key Features & Benefits

  • True Zero-Protrusion Head: Head self-aligns and pulls down to ≤0.05mm surface deviation for genuinely flush joints on 0.8–3.0mm sheet.
  • No Secondary Grinding: Sets flush in one operation, removing the grinding and deburring steps of conventional flush riveting.
  • High Shear Strength: Validated to 300% higher shear strength than standard countersunk rivets (ASTM F606).
  • Fast, Tool-Free Installation: Sets in about 4.2 seconds versus roughly 8.7 seconds for a threaded fastener.
  • Preserves EMI and Sealing Integrity: A flush surface maintains shielding continuity and gasket compression (IEC 60529 Clause 14.2).

Application Industries

Deployed where flushness equals regulatory compliance, FT-9 rivets are used in server rack internal frames, where shielding continuity must be maintained for high-speed PCIe compliance, and in 5G Massive MIMO array enclosures that require vibration-proof flush mounting to protect beamforming accuracy.

The rivet also suits EV battery pack endplates exposed to thermal cycling from −40℃ to 85℃ without gasket compression loss, and medical imaging panel covers where a sterile, grind-free assembly prevents particle contamination.
