The Hexalobular (Torx) Anti-Loosening Screw is built for miniature products that vibrate. It is cold-headed from premium alloy steel — a process that forms the part by material displacement and strengthens it in the process — and the thread is supplied with a locking element already applied.
That locking element is either a nylon patch or an adhesive coating. Both raise friction in the thread so the screw cannot unwind on its own, and both are dry, pre-applied treatments: nothing has to be dispensed on the line and no residue is left inside the assembly. The nylon-patch version can also be reused several times without losing holding force.
