The fastest way to misuse a plastic screw is to treat it as a budget metal screw. Plastic fasteners win where their specific properties — not price — solve the problem.

Four winning scenarios

  • Galvanic neutrality: joining carbon-fiber panels or aluminum to CFRP without galvanic couples — nylon and PEEK are inert referees.

Design with the material's nature

Plastic creeps: preload decays within hours, so joints must tolerate relaxation (spring elements, wide flanges, low torque). Thread engagement is generous — 2.5–3D minimum. Temperature ceilings are hard: nylon 6/6 to ~120 °C, PPS to ~200 °C, PEEK to ~250 °C.
